Seachem Ammonia Alert
Regular price Dhs. 53.50 Save Dhs. -53.50Seachem Ammonia Alert is an innovative color device for continuously detecting and monitoring toxic free ammonia. A sensor changes reversibly from yellow to green to blue, relative to the ammonia concentration. No test kits, chemicals, or procedures are needed. The device detects less than 0.05 mg/L (ppm) free ammonia and alerts you to the #1 killer before any sign of stress. It lasts over a year. This product is not recommended for use at acid pH. Marine or freshwater use. In the absence of free ammonia the unit will assume a yellow or faint yellow-green color. It is normal for the dry sensor to have a greenish hue. It may take up to a few days for a dry sensor to equilibrate with the water. No sampling of water, chemicals, or test procedures are required. The presence of the free ammonia is detectable continuously with a response time of about 15 minutes. Response to decreasing ammonia is slower, requiring about 4 hours to go from TOXIC to SAFE on removal of ammonia. It's small, clear, and unobtrusive, so it won't detract from the view of your aquarium. As little as 0.02 mg/L of free ammonia will produce a greenish hue on the detector surface. This corresponds to a total ammonia (both ionized and free ammonia) of 0.25 mg/L in marine water at pH 8.3. In freshwater at pH 7.0, this corresponds to 3.6 mg/L total ammonia.
Free ammonia is much more toxic than ionized ammonia. As free ammonia, the ALERT color corresponds to about 0.05 mg/L, ALARM to about 0.2 mg/L, and TOXIC to about 0.5 mg/L. Administering a water change should be considered for any indication other than SAFE. The ALERT concentration is tolerated for 3-5 days, ALARM for 1-3 days, and TOXIC is rapidly harmful, requiring immediate attention. For emergency ammonia removal, treat with AmGuard. No care is required beyond removing algae with a clean, soft material. Avoid touching the sensor with fingers, since skin oils can damage it. Do not use bleach, soap, detergents or hard objects to clean the sensor. Some dye medications may discolor the sensor. Sensitivity improves with age, provided the unit is not allowed to dry out, however, drying does not permanently impair the unit. For maximum sensitivity, the unit should be read under natural daylight or daylight simulating light. Red enhancing light minimizes green and blue hues, decreasing the apparent sensitivity of the unit. The response of the unit may be checked by holding it briefly over the mouth of an ammonia bottle: color should develop rapidly.

JBL ProAquaTest NO2 Nitrite
Regular price Dhs. 68.50 Save Dhs. -68.50JBL ProAquaTest NO2 Nitrate is a quick and effective test to determine the optimal nitrite value in freshwater and marine aquariums and in ponds. Nitrite is a toxic nitrogen compound, which is formed when the bacterial balance is disturbed or when setting up a new aquarium. The test shows the exact nitrite content of the water
Why test?
Nitrite is produced when bacteria degrade protein and ammonium. It is normally processed further into non-toxic nitrate. In aquarium and pond water nitrite (NO2) should not be measurable. If nitrate is measurable, it is a sign that the bacterial degradation process has been disturbed. From a concentration of 0.4 mg/l onwards it is dangerous or even fatal for fish, because nitrite blocks the transport of oxygen in the blood. This can be remedied by water changes and good bacteria starters, such as JBL Denitrol and JBL BactoPond.
Simple at home laboratory comparator system, to use simply fill glass vials with sample water, add reagents to one vial, place vials in holder, read values off colour chart. When setting up a new freshwater aquarium it is recommended to run the test daily for 3 weeks. For marine aquariums the test can be run once per week. You will find detailed information and troubleshooting tips about water analysis on the JBL website in Essentials/Aquarium or Pond.
1 nitrate test is suitable for approx. 40 measurements, incl. 2 reagents, 2 glass vials with screw caps, syringe, dosing spoon, comparator block and colour scale.
1 nitrite test is suitbale for approx. 50 measurements, incl. 2 reagents, 2 glass vials with screw caps, syringe, comparator block and colour scale.
Recommended nitrite values:
Freshwater aquarium (community aquarium): 0-0.2 mg/l
Lake Malawi/Lake Tanganyika aquarium: 0-0.2 mg/l
Plant aquarium with few fish (aquascaping): 0-0.2 mg/l

JBL ProAquaTest Mg-Ca Magnesium-Calcium
Regular price Dhs. 125.50 Save Dhs. -125.50JBL ProAquaTest Mg-Ca Magnesium-Calcium is a simple and reliable monitoring of marine aquarium water values to determine the ideal magnesium and calcium value for vigorous and healthy growth in corals and calciferous red algae. The test is really easy to carry out, first run the calcium test, then the magnesium test; subtract the result of the calcium test from the result of the magnesium test – the result gives you the magnesium content. You will find detailed information and troubleshooting tips about water analysis on the JBL website in Essentials/Aquarium or Pond. Package contains: 1 test kit Mg and 1 test kit Ca, incl. 5 reagents, 2 plastic cuvettes, syringe and dosing spoon.
Why test?
Along with calcium, magnesium creates the general hardness. Magnesium is, like potassium, a macroelement, which is necessary for the healthy and vigorous growth of corals. Too low calcium and magnesium levels affect coral growth and prevent beautiful calciferous red algae from growing.
Recommended calcium values:
Marine water aquarium: 1200-1600 mg/l

JBL Pro AquaTest KH Carbonate Hardness
Regular price Dhs. 50.00 Save Dhs. -50.00JBL ProAquaTest KH Carbonate Hardness is a quick test for simple and reliable monitoring to determine the ideal carbonate hardness (KH) in freshwater and marine aquariums and ponds. To test simply fill the plastic cuvette with sample water, add reagent drop by drop until colour changes from blue to yellow. Number of drops = level of carbonate hardness. Ideal to start using when you set up a new aquarium and test once per week upon setup and thereafter run the test once a month. You will find detailed information and troubleshooting tips about water analysis on the JBL website in Essentials/Aquarium or Pond. Package contents: 1 KH quick test, incl. one reagent and plastic cuvette.
Why test?
The well-being of aquarium and pond dwellers and the healthy growth of aquatic plants depend to a large extent on the KH level being kept as constant as possible. The carbonate hardness is one of the most important water values since it keeps the pH level stable. The KH should never drop below 4 °dKH.
Recommended KH values:
Freshwater aquarium (community aquarium): 5-12 °dKH
Lake Malawi/Lake Tanganyika aquarium: 7-20 °dKH
Plant aquarium with few fish (aquascaping): 3-8 °dKH
Marine aquarium: 7-10 °dKH
