Malaseb Medicated Shampoo is formulated to remove scale, degrease the skin and kill cutaneous micro-organisms that primarily or secondarily cause dermatitis.
Malaseb Medicated Shampoo kills infective fungal spores on the coat. This helps to prevent the spread of the disease and reduces environmental contamination. The use of Malaseb Medicated Shampoo in conjunction with a systemic antifungal reduces the time to clinical resolution when compared with using a systemic antifungal alone.
Directions for use:
- Wet the animal thoroughly with clean water.
- Apply Malaseb Medicated Shampoo to your pet at several points and massage into the coat.
- Using a sponge may assist with lathering and penetration of the shampoo through the coat.
- Use approximately 1-2 mL per kg of body weight.
- Leave the shampoo on for 10 minutes. Ensure your pet is supervised during this time to avoid ingestion or inhalation of the shampoo.
- Rinse thoroughly with clean water.
- Use with caution around eyes. If shampoo enters the animal’s eye, flush thoroughly with clean water. Seek veterinary advice if eye changes are observed.
- Pets should not be left unattended during the recommended 10 minute shampoo contact time as licking or inhaling shampoo foam may result in irritation of the gastrointestinal or respiratory tracts.
- This product is not recommended for use in rabbits or species other than dogs or cats.

Taking a dust bath is natural behaviour for your Chinchilla, it is how they keep their lush coats clean and healthy in the wild. A regular dust bath is an absolute necessity for chinchillas. Not only does this keep their coats in good condition, but it is also relaxing and fun. Use a heavy, tip-resistant bowl or deep dish and offer the dust bath to your chinchilla at least twice a week, typically in the evening when they are more active. Usually 10 to 15 minutes is plenty of time for a chinchilla bath. You can offer the bath more frequently if your chinchilla's fur starts to look rough or feels damp or oily. In humid weather, baths should be offered more frequently. The dust bath should only be made available to the chinchilla intermittently, rather than left in the cage indefinitely. Too much bathing can dry the skin, and if the dust is left in the cage chinchillas will often use it as a litter box. If your chinchilla has dry, flaky skin or seems itchy, decrease the bathing time and frequency a bit. You can re-use the dust for several baths. Make sure to scoop out any waste when the chinchilla is done each bath. If the dust starts to look clumpy or dirty, discard and use fresh dust. Can also be used by hamsters and gerbils.
